Student-led tribute to Aiia Maasarwe

Hundreds of students and staff gathered in the Agora on Friday 18 January for a student-led vigil paying tribute to Aiia Maasarwe, a La Trobe College Australia student who was tragically murdered in January.

At the vigil students paid their respects and Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar expressed his grief over the tragedy and offered messages of support to Aiia’s family on behalf of the entire La Trobe community.

Students and staff observed a moment of silence, with many placing flowers or lighting a candle in memory of Aiia.

Community vigils were also held in Melbourne CBD and along the 86 tram route.
