Pooja’s Story

Human Resource Management student, and 2019 Industry Mentoring participant.

How well suited was your mentor to your career aspirations?

The Industry Mentoring Program has been fantastic in connecting me with such a proficient and esteemed individual as a mentor. She is immensely experienced, and her background links really well to my own passions. Through her experience and mentoring we defined professional development goals from the get-go and continued to work towards them throughout the program.

How do you see the mentoring program helping you with your career into the future?

The Industry Mentoring Program has helped me identify my strengths and also how to market these successfully. As one of my professional development goals, we worked on a “personal pitch”. This has already proven to be extremely helpful in both social and professional situations. Learning from my mentor’s own career growth and learning has been especially insightful.

Do you recommend the mentoring program to other students?

I recommend the Industry Mentoring Program to all students because it helps you engage with experienced professionals and it gives access to further learning and networking opportunities. The program helps improve professional self-understanding, and gives you an opportunity to receive guidance with your career planning. This is immensely helpful for international students trying to gain experience in Australia.
