Albury-Wodonga / Look at these scholarships exclusively for students at your campus

Studying can be difficult and expensive. But a scholarship, no matter how big or small, can make all the difference.

There are heaps of really lucrative scholarships available at La Trobe, and some of them are specifically for students at Albury-Wodonga.

Take these three for example.

If you fit the criteria, why not apply? It could pay off big time!

Lisa Malone Scholarship – $4000

Background

This scholarship pays tribute to the work of Lisa Malone, former resident of Wodonga and student in Social Work at La Trobe University. Lisa’s life was devoted to helping people in need within Australia and overseas. Her humanitarian work took her to Alice Springs where she worked with handicapped aboriginal children and also to El Salvador, Southern Mexico and Guatemala. Lisa was working with the United Nations as part of an aid team providing education programs for Mayan people when she and seven others died in a helicopter crash in 1998.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to humanitarian ideals
  • Be studying an undergraduate or postgraduate course at the Albury-Wodonga Campus

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • Demonstrated commitment to social development in any discipline area, either in Australia or overseas.
  • Financial circumstances.
  • Academic achievement.
  • Interview with selection panel

Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to attend an interview at a date to be advised.

Materials Bursary – up to $500

Background

The Albury-Wodonga Student Materials Bursary emanates from a local campaign to establish a Bursary fund to support regional students and assist them in meeting their educational goals.

Monies for the fund have been generously contributed by Albury-Wodonga businesses, community groups, individuals and La Trobe staff.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled at the Albury-Wodonga campus (full or part time)
  2. Be able to demonstrate barriers to accessing higher education
  3. Be able to demonstrate academic potential
  4. Be able to demonstrate engaged citizenship within La Trobe University. This may include scholarly achievement, demonstrated leadership, community service contribution or similar
  5. Have not received an Albury-Wodonga Student Materials Bursary in the year of application

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • personal statement which addresses the eligibility criteria
  • evidence of financial and educational disadvantage through supplied documentation

Albury City Scholarships (one each for Social Work, Business and Psychology) – $1500

Background

Awarded to talented students from the Albury/Wodonga region who are studying in the La Trobe Business School, or the Department of Psychological and Counselling, or the area of Social Work and Social Policy at the Albury-Wodonga campus. Applicants must be in their final year of study and have demonstrated their commitment to the future of their profession within the local community.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

The scholarships will be awarded to students who:

  1. are a local resident from the Albury/Wodonga region (the Albury/Wodonga region incorporates the surrounding shires of Wodonga, Corowa, Greater Hume, Towong and Indigo);
  2. are entering their final year of study;
  3. have proven academic achievement; and
  4. have demonstrated commitment to a future profession within the field of study, with evidence of the contribution this may have to the local area.

NB: Relevant documentation must be provided to support 1, 3 and 4 above: (1- Drivers Licence/Bank Statement/other proof of residency; 3 – copy of results transcript; 4 – a referee report and an individual testimonial)

  • application and supporting documentation
